Reduce, Reuse

Back when I was quilting I LOVED scrap quilts.  I loved the idea of using up every little bit of fabric until you just didn't have enough left to make anything else with it.  I despise the idea of waste...efficiency in all things is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

When I first started weaving, I noticed that I would like bits of yarn left on the bobbins after finishing a project...these bits would get wound back on the original cone or ball of yarn to be used in the next project, but I found later that doing this was annoying...I didn't know how long that bit that was wound back on was and in the end I would throw away more than I wanted to...

So, I decided to start winding on the bits onto cones to wait until the day that I had enough to make a warp out of.  I do this with all the yarns I use, but since I make towels more than anything else, well...I had enough (finally) to make my "weftovers" towels.

And boy did they turn out cute!  I'm going to have a hard time parting with these, but they are up for sale on the Etsy shop...and I hope that they make someone happy.  They are bright and cheerful and such a neat record of my work over the past few months.  Expect many more weftovers!

I got this...

I woke up and checked my e-mail first thing this morning and had such a wonderful, sweet pep talk from my friend, Stacey.  Thanks Stacey.  You don't know how badly I needed it just then.

The theme of her e-mail was that I'm going to do great and if I don't, so what?  It's just me and the kitties and I pick up and move again and get myself to another place that might work out.

So, I know I've got this.  It's in the bag (or boxes depending on how you look at it!).  I'll be fine, I'll be happy and I'll be doing this for ME.

But, you know what?  I think it's going to work out and it's going to be positive and it's going to be wonderful.  I am in charge of my attitude, after all, and I can let negative thoughts overwhelm me or I can put them aside for more positive thoughts and do what I need to do to get settled into my new job and community.

And I will do that because I'm strong, and even though each little thing I have to do before I start this new job feels huge, I will just be that much stronger when I'm done and finished with it.  I'll reach deep, draw on the beauty that's within me and make it happen because I can.

Because...when I decided to jump off that platform and see what I could do in the textile industry...this job, this move...this was it...this is what I wanted but couldn't have because I was tied to Mississippi...and now that I'm not...well...who knows what I'm capable of.

-----------
Imperfect Beauty is complete.  I've created art and I'm so proud of it.  It is for sale, so if you're interested e-mail me a lesliestbutler at gmail dot com and we'll talk price.  Eventually I'm going to open up an Etsy shop, but I've got to get moved first.

Something for Sale

I haven't had something for sale in a very long time.  It's a lovely, knitted mohair scarf in foamy green with pink speckles throughout.  There are a few blue specs in there as well.  Gorgeous, light-weight and ruffly.

I've shown it here so you can see how it swirls and ruffles.

The scarf easily wraps around your neck 2-3 times for added warmth, or can be left to drape across the front for a pretty accent that will make you feel feminine and happy all day.

I'm asking $50 + shipping for this scarf.  If you're interested, please send me an e-mail at lesliestbutler @ gmail dot com
